Why heat, why?

29*C today.

29*C IN THE UK! Why? Why?!

Our house, which is always hot, was sweltering at 9am, even with several windows open. My partner walked both dogs before 9am, and it was already too hot to give them big walks.

It was 20*C yesterday at 6pm, when we walked Kasper off lead, and it was too warm to get far. We went to the closest field where Kasper could go lie down in the water, then just dicked about in the field off lead.

Lots of opportunity for training, and I made sure to send Kasper into the water every 15 minutes or so – his face by the end, “muuuum, not again!!

After a short mooch about we retired to the shade of the one tree in the field.ย Unsurprisingly Kasper chose to lie next to us in the shade for a good 20 minutes XD

I tried to get some photos to show how good Kasper’s teeth look at 6 years old, but my phone didn’t manage it so well…still adorable Boo-pics though ๐Ÿ™‚

And…I made Kasper pose in my hat XD

He was soooo good bless him, didn’t mind at all ๐Ÿ™‚

Here’s some video footage of him having fun, and there’s a short clip at the end of him wearing the hat ๐Ÿ˜€ :

And then, because I am so confident with Kasper’s recall and overall responsiveness at the moment, I left Kasper off lead after we left the field ๐Ÿ™‚

I’ve never done this with any dog before.

There used to be chickens, geese, and horses to the left there, and obviously I would never have done it had there been, but they’ve been gone a long time now and there’s no other concerns nearby.

Kasper was fantastic ๐Ÿ™‚

We mooched onto the football field for five minutes, then looped back home.

Really fun involved walk, despite the heat and the fact we couldn’t actually do much walking!

This morning someone we know in the village called around and has asked if we’d be willing to take her neighbour’s dog in for a week or so.

I don’t know the age, breed, or gender of the dog yet, all I know is that they’re a ‘small breed’. I asked for more information, which they’re going to get for us, but said we’d try and help if we could.

Their neighbour has gone into hospital and there’s no-one to take the dog, and they don’t want it going into rescue but to stay nearby. Temperament dependent we could possibly cope with a lodger for a short while ๐Ÿ™‚

Finally, cat news!

The boys are 100% head over heels in love with each other ^__^

They are together 24/7 now. They enjoy playing together A LOT, they eat together, and they sleep together. In the night my partner woke to go to the loo, and found both kittens curled asleep together on the landing upstairs – Enzo’s head was on Pecan’s back! โค

Tristan the bunny is getting along fantastically with BOTH the kittens now. I will post pics soon, but yesterday they were all together for several hours ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. Can you imagine that we sometimes have 38-40C for several days in row? All of our windows go to the west (ok, one goes to the south), thus we have to let down the rolling shutters and leave only a tiny slot for the air to come in during the afternoons. It’s dark but a bit less hot in the flat.
I wonder whether it will be Tristan who learns kitty tricks first, or Pecan and Enzo will learn some bunny-sh ๐Ÿ™‚
Kasper’s portraits are awesome (as he is, of course)!!!

    • I honestly can’t imagine that heat…this heat is crippling me!

When I was 16 I did a charity bike ride, cycling 40-60 miles daily in Amsterdam. The week we were there it was around 36*C and it was awfully hot!

Tristan is happy to follow the kittens about – he followed Pecan into the litter tray yesterday!!

      Thank you ^__^
