Puppy play

In four days time the little guy will be 9 months old – WHAT??

This guy, nine months?! πŸ™‚

Haha, he’s a cutie πŸ™‚

We had a walk from hell with him this morning and he excelled – as frustrating as the walk was I was very proud of Rey!

There was a couple walking an off lead JRT on the streets just behind us, which they kept yelling at; a man jogging back to his house on the lane who, instead of giving us a little space when we’d clearly tucked into the side, jogged within literally an inch of us whilst I tried to keep Rey focused; two old men who walked past us on the narrow bridge where I had Rey sit and maintain eye contact, and who yelled “Hello!” at him & slapped their legs as they passed…wow, thanks for winding him up!

He got a little excited with the old men, as they were so close and both patting their legs & speaking to him, but he regrouped and re-focused within a few seconds πŸ™‚

We went out with a friend today and bought Raiden some more filled bone chews we can stuff ourselves once they’re empty, and we also got two hooves

I’ve heard from lots of dog owners that they hold up better than bones, and dogs find it harder to break chunks off them (which we have a huge problem with; Kasper refuses to drop pieces – he swallows them and it often makes him sick).

I let Raiden test the hoof, as he is a far gentler chewer than Boo…within five minutes he had a chunk this size off the thing:

Thankfully Raiden, unlike Kasper, will swap bitsΒ and doesn’t swallow them without a thorough chewing. Phew!

He got a filled bone as a swap, and had a grand old time semi emptying it…the last he had he was chewing for hours, but as always he is slightly bored of them now and gave up on this one after twenty minutes.

He also got a really cheap stuffed toy, which he LOVED!

He was charging around the room with it and rolling about, blissfully happy! And, even though it only cost Β£1 and I’m pretty sure *I* could destroy it with my teeth, he didn’t do any damage to it.

One of the cutest things about Raiden is when he lays on his side or flops onto his back with a toy, and he holds it between his front paws ❀

We actually went out to look for things for Kasper’s Gotcha Day in just over a week’s time, but didn’t find anything for him…I have a few ideas of things to buy online though; I’ve wanted a Tux for so long!!

More puppy cuteness πŸ™‚

  1. Awww very cute! Rey did so well too, I’m sure you’re extremely proud of him.

I’ve never bought the stuffed hooves but I do buy empty ones by the bag full and they last us a long time. Laufey will sometimes chew bits off but they are safe to eat and wear down well if Kasper will just chew and then consume it more carefully if you’re not worried about him doing so πŸ™‚

    • Thank you πŸ™‚ Ah I’ve never seen the hooves sold empty, do you buy them online? I think Raiden would crunch the chunks down, are they okay even if the bits coming off are about an inch big?

I remember Kasper had filled hooves when he was younger and he never managed to chew pieces off, so maybe the ones that we bought yesterday were just a bad batch / old…?

They’re probably a no for Kasper though, dope just can’t chew anything… πŸ˜›

      • Yeah, I generally get them from naturaw with my raw order but they do non-raw stuff too which has cheaper delivery πŸ™‚ Usually if the bits are that big Laufey will continue to have a chew on them before swallowing and he’ll usually at least half the size just by messing with it. I can’t really say on if you’re hooves are just a one-off but we’ve binned a couple that were black (they’re naturally smellier anyway) and seemed to crumble oddly and smelt off which we didn’t want to risk but we always have a couple half chewed hooves hanging around πŸ™‚

      • Awesome, thanks, I’ll have a look around…not that Raiden doesn’t love the bones but it’d be nice to give him something else to chew on too πŸ˜€

      • Yeah I know what you mean, for us hooves are the “go-to” which makes them much less interesting and big meaty bones are a real treat πŸ˜€
