Differences

I’m always surprised by how different Kasper and Zoey are.

It’s not that I expect every dog to be the same, it’s just that they are SO different!! And yet they work together so well; they’re like cogs, they go in and out in all the right places ๐Ÿ˜‰

Here are some of the more obvious differences:

1) Kasper is a grump; if he’s not happy or scared about something, he’s not afraid to show it!

When Zoey accidentally treads on Kasper if he’s sleeping, Kasper will tell her off with a low, angry growl…yet he is happy to literally walk all over Zoey whilst she naps, and all she does is look confused! (obviously we try and prevent these situations from happening as best we can!)

When Kasper was wearing a cone, he became fearful of having the lead attached to his harness whilst wearing the cone. He let us know by growling and raising his lip. Zoey on the other hand will curl into a tiny ballย orย run to lick our faces when scared.

2) Kasper is a bottomless pit.

I’m 99% certain that Kasper would eat until he was sick, then eat his sick, and then carry on eating!! But Zoey is an absolute pain with food, and rarely finishes a meal. She’s slightly underweight, but it’s hard to get any weight on her as she won’t eat enough!

3)ย Kasper doesn’t like snuggling.

He will curl up occasionally with me when we’re both asleep. He enjoys cuddles from both me and my partner whilst he’s awake, but when he’s asleep he prefers his own space. And, of course, will do a little sleepy grumble if you’re nearby and move whilst he’s sleeping ๐Ÿ™‚

Zoey pretty much only ever sleeps when she’s snuggled up by someone; she always has. It’s a very sad puppy girl who has to sleep alone ๐Ÿ˜›

4)ย Kasper LOVES his harness…it means walkies, right?! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Zoey despises having her harness put on…in fact she hates wearing anything, and is far happier being a ‘nekkid’ dog. Kasper will happily model anything, and is never worried about new things being put on him, whether it be a harness, scarf, tie or anything else I can think of! ๐Ÿ˜€

5)ย Kasper adores toys and loves to play with his people.

Zoey quickly (and I mean very quickly) becomes bored with toys, and never plays with toys and a human at the same time…no games of tuggy or fetch for her!

5)ย Zoey loves loves loves people!

I’m pretty sure this is down to their socialisation, life experiences and probably their breed/s too. Zoey greets every person she meets like a long lost friend; when the vet put the microchip in her as a puppy he warned “she WILL scream now”…she didn’t, she just turned and licked his face fiercely!

Kasper is not a fan of people. Sure, he loves HIS people, but strangers are a no-no, especially men. He wasn’t treated the best in his first home, and I’m not sure how much he was socialised as a pup, but he is very nervous around new people…thankfully we have developed a way of overcoming that and helping him make friends ๐Ÿ™‚

6)ย Zoey loves the camera and will come running when she sees me pick it up.

Kasper is not a huge fan of the camera; after living with us for over three years he has learned to tolerate it, but he’s not a huge fan. Especially if I’m using flash.

Obviously there are plenty of similarities between them too…they both adore walks, they wolf their treats down, they love their Kongs and antlers, they love to play (with each other and wrestling with us)…Oh! And they both love to tear paper or cardboard into itty bitty pieces ๐Ÿ˜‰

Good job this letter wasn’t too important!

    • That’s exactly what I think ๐Ÿ˜€ I’m pretty sure I could list at least 100 little differences between Kasper and Zoey…

    • Yep, those are a lot of Kasper-behaviours too!

Most nights Kasper decides we haven’t left him enough room in bed (he has over half the bed btw -__- ) and ends up sleeping on the giant footstool instead ๐Ÿ˜›
