Christmas Day Fun!

Whew we have been so busy over the last few days!

Kasper and Zoey had a great Christmas though. Kasper was out with us whilst myself and partner were opening our presents. I figured if I gave him one of his pressies (a new toy) it would keep him busy whilst we opened our gifts…wrong! All it made him think was that all the presents belonged to him hahaha! πŸ™‚

He had fun anyway and he loooved opening his stocking stuffed with gifts from my parents!

Zoey, on the other hand, didn’t have a clue how to open presents! This was her first Christmas with us, so we wanted to make it really special. We put Kasper away in his crate, so that he wouldn’t have chance to guard the wrapping paper from Zoey, then let Zoey out. She raced into the living room, giddy as a kipper (as ever!), we had all the presents laid out for her to open and…she totally ignored them!!

Instead she went straight for the huge tennis ball toy that Kasper had already unwrapped. Even when we swapped her the toy for treats, she still didn’t know what she was supposed to do with her gifts, bless her! So I sat next to her and gave her a helping hand πŸ˜‰

She loved her gifts once they were opened though. Honestly, you should have seen her with the durable root chew we bought for her. She dropped it in the middle of the living room floor then ran around it, yipping, grabbing it in her mouth and tossing it in the air, it was hilarious!Β

To anybody who is interested in the root chew, we bought ours’ from Yappy Dog in Lancaster. It was Β£9.99 for a Medium I think, but as you can see from the pics the medium is huuuge! They’re supposed to be a safe, durable, long lasting chew for dogs and our two pups have certainly enjoyed it so far! Zoey did pull off a few large chunks in the beginning, which we swapped for a treat, so I’d advise to only give it to your dog/s when they’re supervised.

She just loves chewing it, although I think both pups still prefer antlers overall πŸ˜‰

Both dogs had special, extra-long Christmas walks too, which they really enjoyed. Zoey especially came back splattered in mud…that’s the sign of having a good time, right?! πŸ˜›

After that the dogs went back in their crates with antlers, Kongs and a hide chew each and we went to my partner’s parents’ house for Christmas dinner!

Hope everybody else had a great Christmas too! πŸ™‚

  1. Isn’t it funny how dogs have to “learn to do gifts?” Cindy is perfect at opening gifts, anytime, anywhere — but this holiday season we learned that Midge may never have had any of her own gifts previously. She was suspicious at first and never did become really comfortable — oh, but don’t worry, she loved her softie teddie Christmas elf!

    • Oh bless Midge, sounds like your pups have had a lovely Christmas πŸ™‚

Kasper has always loved shredding things, so unwrapping came naturally for him…in fact he often enjoys the unwrapping more than the gift! πŸ˜‰
